Introduction to Distilling

Texas Tony

May 3 | 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

VanHoy Farms Family Campground

Mountain Readiness Expo

Distilling isn’t just about making spirits—it’s a powerful, practical skill with critical applications in a grid-down scenario. From producing safe drinking water and creating high-proof alcohol for sanitizing wounds and equipment, to making fuel for alcohol stoves, preserving herbal tinctures, and even supporting barter economies, distillation is a versatile tool for self-reliance.

Former backyard distiller Texas Tony built his first still more than 29 years ago, crafting moonshine as a hobby. For the past 14 years, he’s brought that passion to the professional level as a partner in a commercial distillery. Now, after decades of hands-on experience—including plenty of trial, error, and hard-earned success—Tony is sharing what he’s learned.

In this Introduction to Distilling class, you’ll learn:
The core principles of distillation and how it works
Equipment options—from simple DIY setups to professional rigs
Ingredients and fermentation basics
Safety considerations and practical grid-down applications and much more!

Whether your goal is preparedness, self-sufficiency, or simply understanding a time-tested skill, this class provides the foundational knowledge to get started.
And yes—what would a distilling class be without a tasting? Stick around after the session for a sample and an open Q&A with Texas Tony.

This private, size-limited class is available exclusively at the Mountain Readiness Expo so get your spot!!!
